Portl was founded in 2016 as an initiative established by Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship (ECE) Students, to assist fellow entrepreneurial driven students to make an immediate impact in the world of startups.

The Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship Students (ecestudents.nl) is the recognized entrepreneurial association of Erasmus University Rotterdam and the student body of Europe’s leading centre for entrepreneurship. Since our establishment in 2013, we built up a successful event portfolio that – together with the lean structure of our association – provides the right tools and resources for the entrepreneurial-minded across-, and beyond the university campus. We believe that a well-rounded university experience combines traditional-, and alternative ways of education and aim to bring these two closer together by facilitating an exciting relationship between the university, entrepreneurship, and a talented and ever-growing pool of students.

The World of Startups

Working in a startup, compared to a corporate environment, is different in various ways. Each employee is highly valuable in a sense, that the marginal effort contributes to the innovation process to a greater extent. Furthermore, the business casual environment allows for a flexible working position within the startup which is perfect, if you are undecided about your strengths and weaknesses and which position suits you the best.

This opportunity of your own personal development is supported by less bureaucracy and a rather small team that works closely together. Having the possibility to team up even with the leaders of the startups makes it easier to realize and implement your individual ideas into the startup’s structure. You might even have a business idea yourself and working with an entrepreneurial culture provides you with the necessary tools how to build your own company and which problems you might face.
